Join Us For Vision Rehabilitation Services Fundraising Run

Runners take your mark (and mark your calendar), get set and get ready to go at this year’s Spooktacular Chase, Vision Rehabilitation Services of Georgia’s signature fundraising event on Saturday October 22, 2011.

Formerly known as Race to See, Spooktacular Chase –presented by the estate of Charyn Darby, will feature a timed 5K (Peachtree Road Race qualifier) and a 1K walk. Held the same weekend as the Fall Jonquil Festival in the heart of Smyrna, the event’s festivities will also include a Spooktacular Supper and silent auction and costume contest the night before the race.

About our Presenting Sponsor, The Estate of Charyn Darby. For the second year in a row, the Estate of Charyn Darby will be the presenting sponsor for the VRS fundraising run. Charyn Darby (1938-2009) was a well-respected business woman, community leader and an ardent supporter of Vision Rehabilitation Services. As a Cobb County resident for more than 40 years, Charyn touched many lives both professionally and personally. She began her career as a speech therapy teacher and later went on to work for an engineering company before starting her own gift shop which merged with North Georgia Trophy and Engraving. Throughout her career, Charyn served on the Keep Smyrna Beautiful Commission, the Downtown Development Task Force of the City of Smyrna, the Advisory Council for Campbell High School, the Emory Adventist Hospital Foundation as well as her services on the board of VRS.

About Vision Rehabilitation Services (VRS)– Founded in 1983, VRS is a fully accredited 501(3) organization that serves blind and low vision residents throughout a 31-county area of Northwest Georgia.
