After collecting more than 1,000 tons of expired, unwanted prescription medications at previous events over the past three years, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and its national, tribal, and community partners will hold a sixth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day across the country on Saturday, April 27th. Collection sites are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
This is an opportunity for Smyrna Vinings residents to safely dispose of outdated or unused over the counter and prescription medications. Staff and law enforcement personnel will be at this location to collect medications and properly dispose of them in compliance with Federal law. Medicines do not have to be removed from their containers or labels removed to assure privacy. Everything collected will be immediately sealed in boxes and destroyed.
Turn in your unused or expired medication at the Smyrna Police Department on Atlanta Road this Saturday from 10:00AM – 2:00PM, as they partner with the DEA in their Take Back Initiative.
Medicine take-back programs for disposal are a good way to remove expired, unwanted, or unused medicines from the home and reduce the chance that others may accidentally take the medicine or reduce environmental impacts of improperly disposing of medications.
