The Mayor and Council of Smyrna meet in open session at 7:30 p.m on the 1st and 3rd Monday night of each month unless altered by a holiday.*
Meetings are held in the council chambers located in City Hall (2800 King Street, Smyrna, GA 30080).
Agendas will be prepared in advance, posted and available in the City Clerk’s office. The agenda may also be found at regular posting on the City Clerk’s page of the City website.
The public is invited and encouraged to participate.
The meetings are carried live on Charter Communications Public Access Channel 19. (For rebroadcast schedules on Cobb County Channel 23 , please refer to the TV23 section of the www.cobbcounty.org website.) Generally, the replay of the last City of Smyrna Council meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
The City Council adopts City ordinances and changes them as necessary; determines City policies and sets standards; approves the budget and sets the millage rate as well as all fees and fines; and employs and supervises the City Administrator.
The Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer, who sees that all laws, ordinances, rules and regulations are executed. The Mayor is in charge of general supervision; presides at City Council meetings; and has the authority to convene the Council in extra sessions. The Mayor and Council appoints members of City boards and commissions and is responsible for ensuring that all City departments operate properly.
