If you haven’t checked out the Round 4 Plan Map for the Cobb County school redistricting that affects the Smyrna, Vinings and Mableton area, you’ll want to click the following link:

As we mentioned before, the Cobb County school redistricting plan is being broken up into two different phases. This map presents a single plan for the redistricting of elementary schools in the south county region of the school district.

In the map is a heavy bold black line that divides the maps into two areas and two phases of implementation. Schools on the west side of the bold black line will be part of the Phase 1 implementation that will become effective in August, 2012. Since, the new Smyrna elementary school and the addition to Nickajack Elementary will not be finished until sometime in 2013, the east side of the bold black line will be part of the Phase 2 implementation of the south county redistricting, effective in August, 2013.

This Round 4 Plan map is being presented so that the Cobb County School Board may receive community input regarding the redistricting options. There are several ways that input regarding these maps may be provided.

1. Attending the public Board meetings and addressing your concerns to the Board members at those meetings.

2. Adding your comments to the “Public Comment Wall” located at the “2011 CCSD Redistricting” web page.

3. Email them at redistricting@cobbk12.org

Final Cobb County School Board vote on the redistricting plan is slated for February.
