Area veterans from World War II and the Korean War are invited to attend Batson-Cook Construction’s 7th Annual Honor Bus Tour to the National Infantry Museum (NIM) at Patriot Park in Columbus. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 (Veterans Day). Reservations are required and space is limited.
The group will gather at 7:15 a.m. for a light breakfast at American Legion Post 160 in Smyrna (160 Legion Drive SE, 30080) and depart by chartered coach at 8:00 a.m. for NIM. The day will conclude at 3:30 p.m., at which time the bus will return to Smyrna. Highlights planned for the day include a salute by the Honor Guard upon arrival at NIM, guided tours, a film screening, WWII Street Exhibits and a luncheon. Batson-Cook hosts the event in honor of our country’s veterans; there is no charge.
Eligible veterans interested in attending must make a reservation with Chaitra Ziebarth, marketing coordinator for Batson-Cook, at 706-642-2500. Options include joining them in Smyrna or meeting them at NIM in Columbus, but reservations are a must.
Veterans from West Point, Newnan, LaGrange, Columbus, Auburn, AL and Dothan, AL participated in the first six Honor Bus Tour events.
Batson-Cook completed construction of the 190,000-square-foot National Infantry Museum in 2009. The museum emphasizes the values that define the Infantryman and the country her protects: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. It is located just outside Fort Benning.
