Great American Cleanup and Adopt-A-Mile

Litter is an unattractive problem on our roadways. It’s unsightly, expensive to remove and poses a threat to our motorists and wildlife. In 2004, the state of Georgia spent a staggering $14 million in roadside litter removal. Needless to say, the problem still persists in Georgia, and in Cobb County.

Be a part of the largest litter and beautification effort ever-the Great American Cleanup! As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Keep Smyrna Beautiful volunteers have the opportunity to work locally joining two million other volunteers across the United States in the nation’s largest quarterly community improvement program. Individuals and groups are welcome!

The next Great American Cleanup will be October 21, 2017 starting at 8:30 am. Volunteers will meet at the new Smyrna Recycling Center, located at 3475 Lake Dr SE, Smyrna, GA 30082. Phone is (770) 431-2869.

Their mile (actually 1.2 miles) is located on the east side of Atlanta Road from Creatwood Trail to the Community Center.

Volunteers work the mile in 3 sections:

All needed supplies are provided free of charge by Keep Smyrna Beautiful and lunch is served after the event. E-Mail SmyrnaACCvols@gmail.com to signup. Program volunteers serve as visible reminders to those who drive our roadways that we are all stewards of the land.
