Attendees can visit the Tea Room and Plant Sale at Taylor-Brawner House at any time during the event. The Tea Room features a variety of treats and refreshments as well as displays of local products from our sponsors.
If you are influenced by the charming gardens you see on the tour, you can purchase a plant for your own garden or yard at our Plant Sale featuring perennials, annuals, decorative pots, and other garden treasures.
All proceeds from the tour will be awarded in grants to Smyrna schools in support of beautification, gardening, recycling, and education goals.
Garden Descriptions: (Please note that gardens are not in any specific order)
Garden #1: Steps from Smyrna Market Village lays the urban homestead featured on this year’s Garden Tour. This productive and beautiful garden has a front orchard with an abundance of fruit trees, a backyard with raised stone beds with edibles like asparagus and tomatoes. These edible plants thrive alongside a variety of non-edibles like irises, hydrangeas, and coneflowers. This sustainable homestead is one to see!
Garden #2: A native plant haven, this 1.6 acre property featured on the tour is a certified GNPS Native Plant Habitat. Walk through and explore the variety of native plants as well as an extensive trillium planting area, and Asian Garden with native plants of China, Taiwan, and Japan.
Garden #3: Our 3rd garden has evolved with the homeowner’s family, changing from wiffle ball field to raised bed vegetable garden to the current three season color, relaxing sanctuary they’ve created. With a front yard that features layered plantings, family-developed apple trees, and a backyard with shade loving plants including azaleas, multiple hydrangea species, and Japanese Maples, you won’t want to miss this garden!
Garden #4: With an exceptionally deep yard, mature trees, and no fences, this garden feels more like a park. The highlight of this garden is the five bee hives that thrive here. The natural, woodland state of the yard is visited by birds, bees, and monarch butterflies finding food and homes here. They don’t use any spray or chemicals in their garden, it’s all about the bee. Visit this amazing garden and learn about these important pollinators!
Garden #5: A functional and relaxing oasis, our 5th garden’s landscape was inspired by a French cottage garden with the hardscape wall and curving path from house to street. A variety of perennials such as azaleas, ferns, and hostas adorn the front yard along with annuals to provide color year round. The entertaining garden in the back features a pool and hardscape with a canopy of Japanese Maples and Cherry Blossoms. Visit this garden for a glimpse into total relaxation and tranquility.
