After 17 years and donating more than $5 million to 30 local children charities, U.S. 10K Classic organizers have announced that the U.S. 10K Classic will not be held in 2011. Due to reduced sponsorship, Atlanta’s Labor Day tradition is taking a one-year hiatus, and the 6.2-mile race will return in 2012.

The U.S. 10K Classic has become one of the Southeast’s largest and most popular 10K races for many reasons. From the traditional parachute jumps during our opening ceremonies, to the unique cycle-skate-run format, to the spectacular finish line celebration full of food, music and fun, the U.S. 10K is a race like no other.

The organizers would like to thank everyone who has supported the event as a competitor, spectator or sponsor. You have made a difference in the lives of thousands of children. Your participation has allowed them to donate millions of dollars to numerous charities that focus on the well-being of children. Your involvement has also helped them purchase 710 acres for the World Children’s Center and complete their infrastructure for Phase One of roads, water, sewer, fiber, street lights, gas and power. The first student children’s home is now complete. The center will eventually serve more than 800+ socially and economically disadvantaged children from around the state, country and the world.
