The Vinings Historic Preservation Society (VHPS) is pleased to host some of Vinings most talented authors as they take part in a book signing at the Old Pavilion on Sunday, November 21, from 3:00-6:00pm.

The featured artists include Ben Weinberg, Peter Stelling, Eva Friedlander and Bruce Cook. Clare Isanhour, author of “Hardy Pace Family; Pioneers in Vinings, GA”, will join the group. Come and engage with these authors as they share their stories of survival, life and death, restorative justice and restitution, and family.

Ben Weinberg’s insightful narratives “Reflections” and “Second Thoughts” consist of a series of essays upon topics about life and death—and a number of things that go on between these two benchmarks. The read will trigger additional insights about where we are in this life, where we may be heading–and, in fact, what life is all about.

Peter Stellings’s “A Place to Call Home” delivers a story with both humor and nostalgic anecdotes about growing up in America in the 1920s. It centers around two well-to-do families joined by an arranged marriage. Inspired by true stories, the reader will experience the age of the first World War, the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression as it was seen through the eyes of the family’s child, Angela.

Eva Friedlander’s “Nine Lives of a Marriage – A Curious Journey” tells the fascinating story of Eva and George Friedlander’s survival in Hungary during the Holocaust, where George escapes from multiple forced labor camps and Eva disappeared in plain sight. It also traces the survival of their 55 year marriage. The book was co-authored by award-winning writer, Mickey Goodman.

Bruce Cook’s “Redeeming the Wounded” explores a concept of fair and equal treatment for crime victims and prisoners based on priciples of restorative justice and restitution. A former prsion chaplain, Rev. Cook collaborated with relatives of murder victims, including Claudia Barnes, the wife of Judge Rowland Barnes who was gunned down in 2005 during the infamous Brian Nichols trial, to tell their stories and ways to find healing.

Clare Isanhour is the author of “Hardy Pace Family; Pioneers in Vinings” recently published by VHPS. Ms. Isanhour, a local geneaologist, collaborated with numerous relatives and friends of the Pace family to trace the geneaology of the family of Hardy Pace, the founder of Vinings. Ms. Isanhour worked for over two years on the book and her research has provided VHPS with great insight into the history of the Pace family and Vinings.
