The results are in from Tuesday’s election and there’s one thing that is clear. The majority of voters want Mayor Max Bacon back and we really like our alcohol. The weather certainly didn’t keep voters away unless they decided to head for the park on a sunny Election Day. Turnout was about 21 percent, with 5,501 of the city’s 26,223 registered voters going to the polls on Tuesday.

Max Bacon was easily re-elected as Mayor, Ward 2 Andrea Blustein, Ward 3 Teri Anulewicz and Ward 6 Wade Lnenicka ran unopposed and won and the Sunday alcohol sales easily passed with 76% of the voters in favor. With the passing of Sunday alcohol sales, the law is scheduled to go into effect in Smyrna on January 1st.

But the fun is not over yet.

While Ward 1 Melleny Pritchett captured more than 50% of the vote, only three votes separated her from John Miller and we’re likely to see a recount.

As for Wards 4, 5 and 7, we’re going to see runoff elections on December 6th as no candidates captured a majority of the vote.
