NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity works to build a stronger community by creating affordable housing in partnership with volunteers and responsible families in need.

Habitat houses are built by volunteers who choose to sponsor or participate in the construction of a house. These volunteers are “partners” with our affiliate and the new homeowner, and are considered to be very special people indeed!

Our houses are three or four-bedroom/two bath houses, averaging 1400 sq. feet in size. It takes approximately 10 weeks (working on Saturdays only) to build the house, though sometimes it may take up to 12 weeks due to weather (or other unforeseen circumstances).

A sponsor is any individual or organization (church, business, civic group, association) who commits to fund all (or a significant part) of the expenses connected with building a Habitat house. The sponsor(s) also commits to providing a significant portion of the labor needed to build the house, plus food and drink for the volunteers working that day.

NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization. We welcome people from all walks of life to join us as we build simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with God and families in need. Though the vast majority have no construction experience or building skills, volunteers are involved in most phases of construction. By working side-by-side with the family who will live in the house, our volunteers experience for themselves the joy created when a family is able to realize their dream of home ownership.

Habitat volunteers contribute more than muscle. Creativity, strategy, and technical skills are among the many invaluable traits volunteers bring to the organization. With a minimal staff, NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity depends upon volunteer committees for support with projects like Family Selection, Family Support, and Construction.

We invite volunteers to help us build, serve on committees, and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary. As a volunteer for NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, you can choose to volunteer as little or as often as you would like. All positions are a tremendous help that result helping responsible families in need become homeowners.
