2016 Candlelite Concert Series

2016 Candlelite Concert Series

Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre presents the 2016 Candlelite Concert Series, five free concerts for your entertainment.

The first 2016 Candlelite Concert will be on May 21, 2016 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm featuring the band Tribute, a celebration of The Allman Brothers Band. Since its founding in February 2013, Tribute has earned a reputation as the source for the authentic ABB sound in and around Atlanta and throughout the Southeast. A formidable eight-piece lineup rigged with vintage equipment, Tribute recreates the sound that the Allman Brothers produced over their inspired first five years, channeling the band’s dual-lead guitar fury and driving rhythms with an instinctive appreciation for how this music was originally written, recorded and interpreted on stage.

The second 2016 Candlelite Concert will be on June 18, 2016 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm with The Dappled Grays, who have been called “Atlanta’s Bluegrass Band.” Its members are powerhouse musicians who combine straight-ahead bluegrass, progressive jazz, blues sensibilities, pristine vocals, and top-flight songwriting into a startlingly fresh and original sound. With their 2000 debut release “In The Gait,” the Dappled Grays catapulted into the bluegrass spotlight, resulting in festival appearances around the country, radio airplay, feature articles in Bluegrass Unlimited and Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, and songs broadcast on MTV. “Doin’ My Job,” their 2007 release, garnered the band more national attention, with the single “The Night Life” reaching number one in Sirius/XM’s bluegrass category and remaining on the Roots Music Report’s charts for 40 consecutive weeks. More recently, the band and two of their songs were featured in Clint Eastwood’s film “Trouble with the Curve.”

The third 2016 Candlelite Concert will be on August 20, 2016 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm featuring the band Copious Jones. Based solely on the merit of their original material, Copious Jones has performed in front of thousands and has been invited to play numerous notable venues and festivals including: Mountain Jam 2014 & 2016 (New York), Bear Creek Music Festival 2014 (Florida), Floyd Fest 2011 (Virginia), Relix Magazine HQ & The Orchard Distribution HQ (New York City) and live on Radio Woodstock 100.1 FM (New York). In their hometown of Atlanta, GA, they have performed at: The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, The Variety Playhouse, Terminal West, Smith’s Olde Bar and more.

The fourth 2016 Candlelite Concert will be on September 17, 2016 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm with the AJ Ghent Band.  The AJ Ghent Band constructs a soulful-indie rock sound howling from the church to the blues. Their style can be defined as fresh, yet reminiscent on music of times past, electrifying, and rootsy.

The fifth and final 2016 Candlelite Concert will be held on October 08, 2016 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm featuring the band Men in Blues, is a highly experienced, energetic Atlanta Wedding/Variety/Cover/Party band that plays Funky Classic Rock & Roll, Soul, R&B, Funk, Blues, Oldies, and Country.
