The Cobb County Commission and the Cobb Community Relations Council invite nominations for the 2012 Creating Community Awards. The intent of the awards is to recognize an individual, team or organization that has done something unique in making a positive contribution to the inclusion of any of the diverse communities in Cobb County. Those groups could be identified as race/ethnicity, age/generational, religious, disabled or handicapped, gender, etc.

Through these awards, Cobb County hopes to:

1. Promote better community relations between all residents

2. Promote greater acceptance of and respect for cultural diversity

3. Promote and ensure a high quality of life for all its residents through community initiatives and by fostering open dialogue within the community and among neighbors, leaders and elected officials.

The purpose of the awards is not only to recognize good works in the county but also to provide a model and inspiration for the rest of the Cobb community. Nominations should be emailed, if possible, to the appropriate Commissioner at the following addresses:

Helen Goreham (District 1) hgoreham@cobbcounty.org
Bob Ott (District 2) bob.ott@cobbcounty.org
JoAnn Birrell (District 3) joann.birrell@cobbcounty.org
Woody Thompson (District 4) woody.thompson@cobbcounty.org

Each Commissioner will receive nominations from his or her district. A committee will be formed to choose each recipient.
