Election Day is next Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The City of Smyrna, Georgia will hold a General Election to elect the following positions: Mayor and Seven (7) Council Seats elected by Ward.

For each office, the person receiving a majority of the votes cast shall be elected. Where no candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, a Runoff election shall be held on December 6, 2011.

In addition to voting on the candidates, Smyrna residents will also vote on whether they want to be able to buy alcohol in stores on Sundays.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and any voter in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voters must have an acceptable form of photo ID with them to vote. Based on past experiences, voters who go to the polls after 10 a.m. will most likely encounter a short wait.
