Atlanta Road Median and Streetscape

The City of Smyrna will be holding a public meeting regarding the Atlanta Road Median and Streetscape project. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Brawner Hall in the Taylor-Brawner Park on Atlanta Road. The Atlanta Road Median project is part of the 1 percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) that was approved by Cobb County voters in 2005.

On September 20, 2005 the voters of Cobb County approved a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) to fund capital improvement projects throughout Cobb County and within each of the County’s six cities. Approximately $43 million in sales tax funding was anticipated to be allocated to the City of Smyrna between January 2006 and December 2011 for these projects. Visit www.smyrnasplost.com for a complete list of the 2005 SPLOST projects.

The Atlanta Road Median and Streetscape concept plan will be presented at Tuesday’s meeting and resident input will be gathered. The plan calls for installing raised medians and designing and implementing intersection improvements.
