Election Day is today, November 2, 2010. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and any voter in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voters must have an acceptable form of photo ID with them to vote. Based on experiences from 2008, voters who go to the polls after 10 a.m. will most likely encounter a short wait.
Cobb Elections staff reminds voters that many changes were made to precinct and polling locations since 2008 and voters should check their proper locations before heading to the polls on Tuesday. The easiest way to check is to visit the My Voter Page on the Secretary of State’s website.
Employers are also reminded that Georgia law requires employees be allowed two hours off to vote on Election Day. The polls are open for 12 hours, so most people have an opportunity to go before or after work, but employees working a 12-hour shift must be allowed to break to vote.
Any voter who has a question about the ballot that displays on the touchscreen voting equipment must get the attention of a poll worker before touching the “cast ballot” button.
