First, there’s an old custom in New Orleans of serving red beans and rice on Mondays. This comes from the time when ham was a Sunday meal and Monday was when a pot of beans could sit on the stove and simmer while everyone was busy scrubbing clothes for the coming week.
So, every Monday starting January 25 and ending February 15, they’ll be featuring their own red beans and rice dish for $15 at South City Kitchen Vinings for dinner:
Traditional New Orleans Red Beans and Rice with Pan-fried Pork Chop – creamy red beans cooked with “Holy Trinity” andouille sausage and pickled pork, served on top of long grain rice with thin pan-fried boneless pork chops and pickled onions
Then, starting Tuesday, February 16th, they will be serving up this special “Taste of New Orleans” dinner menu (in addition to their regular menu) through Sunday, February 21st:
